I'm not the world's biggest sweet tooth, but even I couldn't walk past the Chocolateria San Churro at Bondi Beach. This little chocolateria is adorable. Although it is part of a chain of franchises, this store is fantastic. If you've never been to a Chocolateria San Churro, you will be in for a real treat. Perhaps you should time this to coincide with a Bondi Beach walk so that you at least walk some of the calories off.
The menu of this lovely Chocolateria contains everything you'd like from churros, ice-creams, chocolate shakes and everything else you'd like. If you've never had a churro, it is a delicious almost donut-like stick of pastry goodness. If you're there early, you can get a delicious Cinnamon Breakfast Churro. Otherwise, you and your friends can enjoy these churros with various flavours of melted chocolate and even sprinkles. You can also purchase churros takeaway.
If for some odd reason churros do not tickle your fancy, you can always try some of the other desserts. The Chocolate Volcano is a chocolate pudding with a gooey chocolate centre and is served with vanilla ice-cream. There is also choc fudge bizcocho (chocolate cake with chocolate sauce with strawberries and white chocolate ice-cream), strawberry bizcocho (similar to the chocolate one but more strawberries and custard), the banana caramel cup (banana, milk chocolate, fresh churros pieces), truffle bomba (deep fried chocolate truffle with cream), chocolate dipped strawberries, and strawberry bowl – which is essentially strawberries that you can dip into a bowl of chocolate.
Another lovely thing about this Chocolateria is that it has some Gluten Free options, such as the aforementioned chocolate-dipped strawberries. In addition to the delights I have already talked about, there are also tasting plates with a selection of fondues, churros, truffles and many other delicious naughty things.
If you like ice-cream, there is a delightful selection of tantalising sundaes including the divine salted caramel, cookies and cream, chocolate and strawberry and a signature San Churro Ice Cream Sunday with three scoops of chocolate ice-cream, brownie, melted chocolate and whipped cream. Of course, there are more simple delights such as an ice-cream cone (which you can choose to have decorated with chocolate) and a macaron ice-cream sandwich.
There's also a large selection of milkshakes and smoothies, with unique flavours that include salted chocolate coconut, peanut butter besos, banana lambada, chocolate hazelnut, choco loco, dulce de lece (caramel), crema y fresa in strawberry, cookie cha cha, mint macarena, iced salted caramel, iced chocolate, iced mocha, iced coffee, iced Spanish latte, classic milkshake in various flavours, mango smoothie, berry smoothie, lemon lime smoothie, tropical punch smoothie, mojito and even sangria.
If it's a little bit cooler as it is getting to be at the moment, you can always get your hands on the various types of hot chocolates. There are two whole ranges of hot chocolate drinks, including the Couverture hot chocolate range and the Spanish hot chocolate range. Additionally, there are also fair-trade organic coffees, cakes and sweets, a divine selection of truffles and pralines and
retail gift boxes .
I do apologise if you're now itching to go to Chocolateria San Churro – just remember to go for a walk on the beach afterwards and it will curb a fraction of the damage.
