It's safe to say that Adelaide's residents have acquired quite a sweet tooth, with dessert bars and restaurants such as Cocolate, San Churro, Elephant Walk and Spats. Another to add to the ever growing list of sweeteries is Chocolate Taperia. This dessert bar is much like its brethren San Churro as the two take inspiration from Spain and Mexico with the Latin American twists on a sweet, sugary dessert.
The moment you step inside you almost have to catch your breath. The décor, whilst not heavily Spanish themed, does have an upper-class Mediterranean elegance to it, from the bricked walling on the left to the almost burnt orange colored wallpaper to the right. The bar itself has a richness in its design and layout which offers almost a sense of luxury whilst still remaining cozy and intimate.
A taperia is a place in which food is shared; in fact, their website states that "a taperia is a place where sharing food is the key, it allows everyone to pick their favourite dish and share with others". This type of eatery encourages people to expand their taste buds and try something different. In a place boasting a passion for chocolate, it's not hard to get those taste buds salivating, even over foods never tried before.
Chocolate Taperia is on the pricier side in regards to restaurants and especially dessert bars, however the desserts are rich in flavour, the fruits are fresh and the coffees is made to perfection. It's the type of place I would suggest going as a small group or even as a date, if you're the type to try and impress. You'll be hard pressed to find chocolate that is richer and stronger than that of Chocolate Taperia.
