Of all the play centres in Perth, Chipmunks Playland and Cafe in Bibra Lake has to be my favourite for its amazing toddler area. Given how busy it is every time I visit, clearly the people of Perth are impressed too.



Chipmunks is part of a chain of play centres dotted around Perth, and while I can't speak for the other centres, this franchise is clean and modern and has a great area for toddlers.



The centre is split into four main play sections – there's the big kid's area for over fives, which is a three tier climbing structure with racing slides, tunnels and fun bottom level games. There is also a huge, inflatable slide that is strictly for the older kids.



The toddler area for under fives is huge – it is also three-tiered and is a soft-padded maze of tunnels, slides and steps. There's a ball pit, trampoline, two spinning cups and a giant inflatable chipmunk for the kids to climb on.



There is a small play area with a playhouse and lots of toys, plus an area just for babies under 12 months.



The cafe serves a lovely cup of coffee, plus a range of snacks and small meals, other hot and cold drinks, plus a cabinet of cakes and little treats for the kids.



The cafe area is huge, with lots of space to sit and have a rest, while the kids run amok. On the day we visited, it was extremely busy as it was a rainy day, but we didn't have any trouble finding somewhere to park ourselves.



You can hold your child's birthday party at the centre, with party rooms and different themes available, including Jungle, Pirate, Superhero and Fairy Princess. All the catering is taken care of and you can even hire out the entire venue for parties.



It's not the cheapest play centre around, at $10.90 to enter for one child aged between one and two years, and $13.90 for kids aged three to 11 years. The centre is open seven days a week and as with all play centres, socks are a must.

If you need somewhere to take the kids on a rainy day or you just want to chill out for a bit while the kids play, you can't go past Chipmunks.
