A mixture of authentic and quirky Korean and Japanese specialties, Chingu will transport you to Asia right in the heart of Fortitude Valley. Its table bbq style is a specialty of both Japan and Korea and the owners of this establishment are no strangers to how it should be done.

A popular drawcard is the $29.95 all-you-can-eat dinner menu, which is packed full of a large variety of traditional entrée and main dishes and delicious sides, along with the table bbq assortment. It caters well to small and large groups, offering fun variety and great value for money.

The table bbq assortment is served raw so that you can fry it yourself on the heated hot plate to your liking in the centre of your table. It includes choices of meat (fresh pork belly, sweet soy beef, soy and ginger chicken thigh), seafood (local tiger prawns, coriander and mustard marinated calamari) and assorted vegetables (sliced pumpkin, corn, onion and zucchini).

The smell of the sizzling marinated meats and seafood on the bbq is guaranteed to get your senses going. Patiently watch the calamari delicately curl into itself and then melt in your mouth or the slices of beef bubble away under the surface. Depending on your company, you might need to practice your ninja reflexes with the chopsticks.

The entrees range from fresh handmade sushi and gyoza dumplings to tempura vegetables or fish to a variety of wholesome salads. You will also find Japanese and Korean versions of savoury pancakes on the list. The Japanese version, called okonomiyaki consists mainly of sliced cabbage with a teriyaki sauce that has both sweet and tangy flavours. The Korean version is made with kimchi, a hot, spicy cabbage.

The drinks menu holds a few Asian treasures as well. The sweet and delightful Umeshu plum wine from Japan, Korean Soju (distilled rice beverage) which is not so sweet, but similar to the tartness of vodka, and the Korean rice wine which comes served in a teapot are all worth the experience.

Chingu is also open for lunch everyday offering great lunch specials, the most you'll pay being $13.50.
