Move over Japanese, Vietnamese and Italian cuisine, it seems that Mexican is the new flavour (no pun intended!) of the month. And leading the way is Chingón, a funky, new taqueria, located in Melbourne's home of Mexican food; Richmond.

Chingón, which is Spanish for 'extremely awesome', was opened by two brothers, mid-2012, and is certainly living up to its name. With its lively atmosphere and unique, rustic interior, Chingón is not your average restaurant. Using the freshest ingredients, the brothers pride themselves on making authentic Mexican street food, emulating the traditional food made and sold on almost every corner in Mexico.

The menu is simple, yet flavoursome. There are six hand made tortilla tacos to choose from, ranging from pork and grilled pineapple to grilled fish, red cabbage and feta, although with Chingón's any 4 tacos for $20 deal, you'll be sure to try more than one! And it's not just the food that 's authentic - bamboo plates, plastic cutlery and paper cups are used, not to cut costs, but rather, to complete the genuine experience.

At the moment, Chingón only offers BYO, however it won't be too long before a traditional drinks menu, consisting of tequilas, beers and cocktails, will be available to wash down all that goodness.

Word is out; this taqueria is here to stay.
