Look forward to the Chinese Traditional Cultural Festival in all its glory. Vibrant and colourful, the Festival is filled with Chinese street food stalls, traditional handicrafts, tea ceremonies, children's activities and traditional games, stage performances, market stalls and more. Held over the weekend of 21-22 September 2024 from 11am-9pm on the Saturday and 11am-7pm on the Sunday at Federation Square , corner Swanston and Flinders Streets, Melbourne, you're in for a feast for all the senses. Stage performances will run from 2-9pm on day 1, and 1-5pm on day 2. Whatever your cultural background, come along and immerse yourself in the vibrancy and rich celebrations of Chinese culture. The festival will showcase the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival including celebrating the harvest moon, creating paper lanterns, and eating delicious Moon Cakes – the traditional Chinese food of the Mid-Autumn Festival. You'll find the program here . Dragon and Lion Dance is traditionally performed on special occasions, with the dragon symbolising power and boldness, and the lion representing strength, stability and superiority. They chase away demons and evil spirits, and welcome prosperity.
