Come and celebrate the start of the Year of the Dog

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with a visit to the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk.

The Sorrento Quay Boardwalk will be throwing a FREE Chinese New Year Festival on the 25th of February from 1pm to 3pm to mark the start of the Year of the Dog.

The Dog is one of 12 animals that appears on the Chinese Zodiac. Each of the animals on the zodiac have their own attributes and elements assigned to them.

The zodiac assigns an animal to each year and works in a repeating 12-year cycle. The Chinese Zodiac remains popular alongside the Buddhist calendar in several countries throughout Asia.

The Dog is the 11th animal listed in the Chinese Zodiac and is a symbol of loyalty and honesty. According to the Zodiac people born in the Year of the Dog will possess the best traits of human nature. They will be honest, friendly and smart and have a strong sense of responsibility.

If you visit the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk on the 25th of February, there will be a Chinese Orchestra, Chinese Dancing and Lion Dancing. It will be a fun event that the whole family will enjoy.
