On 9 February 2014, Glen Waverley will come alive with the annual Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival. The Year of The Horse will be celebrated in style by the City of Monash. This festival is one of the major Melbourne festivals held during the 15 days of Chinese New Year celebrations.
Commencing at 11am, this festival will feature a wide array of events. An enthralling lion dance on stumps performance will regale visitors at the inaugural of the festival. A second lion dance performance will take place at 5pm. An exciting martial arts performance will captivate the visitors while other forms of live entertainment will keep everyone entertained for the whole day. A huge variety of food stalls will get your juices flowing as you revel in the delightful aroma and flavours of the delicious Chinese cuisine.
To make things more interesting there will be interactive and creative Chinese cultural activities and art-making activities. There will even be provision for mah-jong games within the cultural corner at the Glen Waverley library forecourt. Feel free to try your hand at the mah-jong games. And as cherry on top you will enjoy the opportunity to pop some Chinese crackers to make the festival experience complete.
The Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival will be organised and presented by the Monash Chinese Events Organising Committee, supported by the Monash City Council. The festival will take place at Kingsway, Glen Waverley. Learn more about this festival by visiting the official website or by calling 0413 734 088 or by emailing email@example.com.
