Is there any better place to celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival than in Brisbane's Chinatown Mall? Enjoy an afternoon and evening of free cultural performances, lion and dragon dancing, family-friendly activities and roving entertainment in Fortitude Valley on 7 September 2019 as part of this iconic moment in the Chinese lunar calendar. The fun kicks off at 4pm.

4-9pm - Calligraphy workshops
4pm - Dragon dance performance
4.15pm - Roving dragon dance
4.15pm - Moon festival lantern dance
4.45pm - Anna Yen Chinese grandma clown performance
5-7.30pm - Lantern and blessing card workshops
5pm - Roving stilt walking
5pm - Voices from Harmonie
5.20pm - Calligraphy demonstration
5.35pm - Sakura Japanese dance performance
5.55pm - Fiesta creations fire show
6.15pm - Chinese cultural dancing
6.40pm - Kpop and Vpop performance
7pm - Roving stilt walking

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, began as early as 3000 years ago during the Shang Dynasty and as a celebration of the moon. It has a tradition of deity, but it is also a time to reconnect with family members. Many traditions of the Mid-Autumn festival are centred around family reunion and happiness.
