EVENT RESCHEDULED! New start date Friday 27th February. Same times and locations apply.

The whole family, from nanny to the kids, will love the spectacle of the Chinese Lunar New Year festival, as the local Chinese community rings in the Year of the Goat .

Unlike in the west, China celebrates the New Year, or 'Spring Festival' from Chinese New Year's Eve to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month – now that's some party! While the festivities in Brisbane won't be running for as long, from 5pm on Friday 27th February to Sunday, March 1st, Fortitude Valley's Chinatown Mall will be abuzz with celebration after having to reschedule the event due to cyclonic rains.

Traditionally the revelries are a time to honour your ancestors and deities, to clean house in preparation for the New Year, to light firecrackers and give money in red paper envelopes. The Chinatown Mall will be decked out in traditional red decorations carrying messages of good fortune, health, longevity and happiness. Bring your family and friends and experience delicious food and market stalls, free interactive workshops, dance and music performances, firecrackers, lion dances and much more.
