Twenty minutes for lunch and you look forward to munch. Tick-tock, the clock won't stop! You need a quick meal, a cheap one to seal the deal. Luckily, for you, I know where to be. Look no further than Murray Street's Chilliz! This little store provides a range of satisfactory Malaysian cooking at an affordable price.
Visiting my mother on her lunch breaks usually means we are in rush for a quick bite before she is whisked away into the busy world of work, so we find ourselves chowing down at Chilliz. She, not a keen lover of rice, orders a BBQ chicken noodle, I opt for a simple honey chicken. When you are on the go, the food is tasty enough but it does not beat five star quality cooking.
However, this is not to say that Chilliz is not worth your time. As soon as you enter the small shop, packed meals are ready for you to pick. Uniquely, the rice is separate from whatever meal you chose in two separate stackable containers allowing you to discover the different foods on your own. Enjoy your rice plainly or mix it all together for a wonderful new taste.

In addition to quick meals, the store's atmosphere is pleasant and tranquil, a mix of Asian pop and American music plays through the speakers, and a few customers sit in the two long halls. The colors are vibrant and immediately capture your attention through the busy streets. It is perfect if you wish to sit in store and enjoy your meal.
If you are a student and you feel a craving for Malaysian, you can pop in during the week with your uniform or a smart rider for a special deal. If you are in high school or primary, you can get any regular sized meal for only $5. Though most meals usually cost only between $5-7, this is a useful deal for any school student.
Additionally, if you cannot make it to Murray Street, you can find a nearby Chilliz at Raine Square, Nedlands, or Karawara. The food is satisfactory simple take-away, but with such easy and cheap meals, who could pass it up? Great for the busy student or simple worker and If you have a craving for rice or noodles with $5 to spare, chow down at Chilliz!
