When you wonder through Melbourne Central, breezing through the never ending shopping stops, you wouldn't think that such a done up place could also have the next best thing to Indian hawker food stand.

, as it's name suggests, serves chilli Indian hawker type food. You know it's a decent place simply because its a lunch time hit with Indians themselves, so they must be doing something right. It may seem like a take away joint, but has a fair few seats outside where you can sit and eat, if your lucky that is.

I love this place not only because of it's price, but as the name states - the chilli. Serving fresh hot Dosa's and a variety of Indian curries, naans and appetisers, this place is the place to go for a cheap tasty eat, cheaper at lunch than dinner. It resembles the Indian Hawker food stand, and the food almost as good.

The fascinating aspect is that if you're peer into the side of the restaurant, you can watch the chefs making the crisp dosa's right in front of you, so you know it's freshly made. Be warned however, this is no place for the weak. Chilli here means chilli. If you ask the waiter how chilli the dosa is, he will tell it's not too bad. Of course, the waiter is almost always Indian, used to the spicy cuisine, so be weary who you ask. However, try and be brave, you may surprise yourself.

The curries are always steaming, and with so many options you will never get bored. Try the ghobi manchurian entree, and the masala dosa, both a favorite of mine. For those who do not know what a Dosa is, it is a South Indian delicacy. An Indian type crepe usually filled with spiced potato stuffing, served with sambar (spicy soup you dip the dosa with) and a variety of coconut and tomato peanut chutneys. Mmmmmm.

I just can't resist as I walk by and smell the spices, it's simply delicious. A cheap, quick, chilli lunch time treat if your craving Indian cuisine. The service is quick too, so you won't have to wait long, even for take away. The spicy food is perfect to warm you up in the winter, and the price so reasonable you can get rid of all your loose change.
