Located along Field Street off Gouger Street, Chilli Chef is where you can a wide variety of Chinese dishes, many of which feature chilli. Placing your order is done by scanning a QR Code located at each table.

The slices of pork in the Stir-fried Sliced Pork with Fresh Chilli were tender. The quantity of pork was enough to make eating the dish a satisfying experience. Slices of chilli are what gave the dish its punchy spicy taste, which should be suitable for most tastes.

While the pieces of chicken in the Spicy and Crispy Chicken had bones, it was not difficult to eat the flesh off them. The chicken was cooked enough to give the exterior some crispiness. Be aware that it is quite spicy. Slices of garlic chives added extra flavour to the dish.

It may not be apparent from the name but the Cucumber in Chef’s Sauce also included chilli. The sauce had a background sour taste and the chilli provided a kick which was not too hot. The chunks of cucumber were of a good size and had a nice bite to them. The refreshing taste of the cucumber balanced out the spiciness of the sauce.

The restaurant is fairly small in size. It is popular with the locals so arriving early is advised to avoid having to wait for a table.
