My first thought upon entering Melbourne's Chill On Ice Bar was, "Wow it's cold." It may seem obvious, considering the place is made of ice, but still, the word cold didn't seem to cut it.
At -10 degrees, with the promise of toasty clothes, I expected not to feel the cold at all. You can imagine my surprise when I was handed a florescent blue poncho and my bare legs were exposed to the freezing temperatures that awaited. But chattering teeth or not, laughter is inevitable.
Though you can't take in your own camera, they have buttons on the walls that count down so you're in prime position when the camera flashes. If you don't often pose in pictures, I recommend you do it here, as laughter is promised.
Upon entering you receive a free drink card, which entitles you to a drink served in an ice glass. This is cool, there's no denying it, but pack an extra set of gloves to go underneath your rented ones because seriously, it's freezing.
Unfortunately due to the cold and my cold blood, I didn't stay the whole half hour our money entitled us to, but next time I'll remember to dress warmer.
Two things to remember if you go to Chill On Ice: 1. Don't lick the ice sculptures, it's frowned upon. 2. Its cold! Dress warm, for the love of god.
