No two shows are the same
Do you like improvised comedy? Maybe you do, maybe you don't, maybe you don't even know what it is. Improvised comedy is a style of comedy that is made up on the spot.
You may be thinking "What? That sounds easy, my friends think I'm hilarious and I don't plan what I'm going to say at all!".
Yet no-one is paying to see you talk about football at the local pub, yet millions of people worldwide are big fans of shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway? or various panel shows where the guests respond to the host's questions. It's about quick wits and a positive "yes and" attitude.
Improvised Theatre is such a well-established form of theatre that there are courses, festivals, and events worldwide dedicated to it. People around the world gain all sorts of positive skills from improvisation, everything from self-confidence to a more positive attitude can be achieved through this means of theatre.
There are a plethora of troupes performing across the Netherlands too. A wide variety of groups perform shows across the country in Dutch, English and other languages too. The majority are in Amsterdam, of course, but across the country, there are other groups putting on their own shows and running their own courses.
In Eindhoven, the most popular and ubiquitous English language group is Chili Con Comedy. Just a couple of years old, they've fast established themselves as major players in the Dutch improv scene. Their more experienced performers put on a show every month while the graduates of their courses put on shows of their own where they are presented a series of situations and opportunities to battle it out.
Whether you want to watch one of their shows, or get involved in their weekly sessions or courses, you can find out more on their Facebook page where their events are regularly updated. With improvised comedy, no two shows are the same, so even if you've been before, get yourself along to another show of guaranteed hilarity.
