The City of Stonnington's Children's Week and School Holiday events intersect during the coming dates from 24 Sep to 26 Oct 2024. You'll find all the details and dates via the two given links. With designated dates, Children's Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children. This year’s national theme is: “Children have a right to a clean and safe environment.” All Children's Week events are free. Designed for various age groups, check the details on the website. There are art and craft projects to get involved in; build Lego®; Rhymetime, stories and songs for the very young; stay and play dates; making a bee hotel; and more for the adults, a discussion with Dr Billy Garvey in conversation about 10 things you wish you knew about your child's mental health - with Claire Halliday. Do note that some events need bookings and that the events listed are held at various locations/libraries.

The Spring School Holiday Program is already in full swing with highlights including a show on the science of sound, craft sessions and interactive workshops on mime, a didgeridoo performance, workshops on world dance, and beat-making. Explore the program here , which offers free and low-cost activities to keep kids active and engaged. Most are suited to children aged 6-12 years. Again, events are at various locations. Artist Benji Miu will be running the sampling/beatmaking workshop where you'll learn how to create music out of every sound. Even lolly wrappers can be turned into a snare drum. This event is suited for children aged 7-12 years, and under 12s need to be supervised by a responsible adult. You can lose yourself in a world of dance traditions, styles and costumes for the world dance event. It's going to be a culturally inspiring dance experience that combines Latin, Bollywood, African and Spanish dance steps, with vibrant sounds from across the globe. This event is presented by Supreme Incursions.

Do check other neighbouring Councils who may have their own Children's Week events of interest. For instance, there's a Twilight Picnic on 24 Oct at Croydon. You can spread yourself out in the great outdoors, enjoy your picnic, and lots of entertainment that includes circus roving performers, a hip-hop crew and more. All you need to do is sit back, take it all in, enjoy food from the food trucks, and just chill and be entertained.
