Welcome. Here you can find the most unique, fun, traditional, tasty, wacky, historical, contemporary, discovered and undiscovered places, events, experiences and things to do.
A great day out for kids and their families
Werribee Park is the venue for Wynham Council's 2013 Children's Week Picnic to be held on Sunday 27 October from 10.00am until 4.00pm. The focus of the picnic is of course on the kids and a multitude of activities are planned to keep them happy and entertained for the whole day.

Some of the highlights of the day are shows plus a meet and greet by "Despicable Me 2" Minions, the "Nudie Blender Challenge" (a pedal-powered giant blender) and a Toy Swap Party.

Other activities include circus workshops, cultural dancing, ball games, ten pin bowling alley, giant connect four and a rock climbing wall.

Creative kids can join in activities range from Lego, building a city with recycled materials, pot plant decorating and planting through to arts and craft, playdough and face painting.

Fairytale characters plus Eesha the elephant on stilts and Ranger Roo will be roving around the park while the Street Surfer Bus for the 8 years plus age group has i-pads, DJ's, hairspraying and games on offer.

Plentiful picnic spots

With ten hectares of parklands and beautifully landscaped gardens, Werribee Park is also the home of the historic Werribee Mansion. The gardens themselves are always a delight. At this time of year though they are a real feast for the senses with lush green vistas, the fragrance of Spring and a cacophony of birdsong. (Watch out for the pair of grey geese that tend to hang around the park entrance and forage on the roadside.) Another beautiful sight is the Victoria State Rose Garden, right next door to the Mansion's formal gardens and well worth a visit while you're there.

Food and drink will be available to buy, however it's a great idea to pack your own picnic and rug and sprawl out on the expansive lawns. If you want to BBQ, there are some in the park adjacent to the main carpark but none in the actual Mansion grounds.

Entrance to the park and the activities are free. This doesn't include entry to the Werribee Mansion however so if you want to have a wander inside there, normal entry fees apply.
