Fun, sun and something a little bit different are the keywords for activities these school holidays. Children's week at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival is a perfect fit. Kid's entry is free and each day is jam packed full of activities for young and old.
Children's week at the Tulip Festival runs from Monday the 19th of September to Thursday the 22nd of September and then again from Monday the 26th of September to Thursday the 29th of September.
Free activities include the petting zoo plus a roaming reptile zoo, a gnome hunt, the blue loon balloonist, Australia's largest clog, The MikMaks (dance up a storm), Hoot and Hootabelle, Fairy Mez storytelling, Ben and Holly special appearances and much more. There is also a range of unique paid activities including some out of this world face painting, craft workshops, learning to play the didgeridoo and creating your own masterpiece with coloured sand. All very reasonably priced from $5 -$12 depending on the activity.
In addition to the festival, other attractions include live musical entertainment, replica Dutch windmills, roam the historic gardens to see the fantastic array of tulips and sculpture exhibits, the gift shop and most importantly feast on some delicious Dutch treats in the Cafe which include Poffertjes, Croquettes, Oliebollen (dutch donuts) and a range of savoury dishes if you are trying to lose your winter roly poly.

How do I get there you may ask? If driving, the Tesselaar Tulip Farm is located within sixty minutes of Melbourne in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne at 357-359 Monbulk Road, Silvan. There is off street parking available.
Public transport is also an option. You will need to catch a train to Lilydale Station and board the Route 663 bus from Lilydale Station to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. If you are going on a Saturday or Sunday outside of Children's week a shuttle bus is available from Lilydale Station and is only $3 for a return ticket.
