You'll find that all of the new films in the CHIFF program are Australian premieres, handpicked from world-class film festivals such as Berlin, Toronto, and Seattle. These films rarely get a release outside of their home countries, so CHIFF provides one of the only ways for families to catch them on the big screen in Australia for our young movie buffs.

The Festival will run from 27 May to 12 June 2023 in Melbourne and Sydney, and the program ranges from non-verbal films for the miniature movie lover to a more challenging mix of foreign and English-language films from all over the world for the older ones. Check out the PDF Program here and start booking tickets to this popular event before they run out.

Like the adult film festivals, CHIFF comes with a few of its own special events like a pre-screening party, dress-up events where you can dress as a cowboy and a princess, a colouring competition and more. Marking its 25th anniversary (can you believe it), Babe: Pig in the City rocks in as a special screening of this sequel to the 1995 Australia hit film Babe.

Sensitive to the younger age range, and perhaps first time cinema goers, check out the films for children ages four and up. These films are filled with colour, humour, and are easy for younger film fans to follow! Just a heads-up that you might find it easier to follow the screening schedule on the PDF program which also contains the annual CHIFF Word Search Challenge which challenges the older children to find 8 hidden words.

There's adventure, fantasy and even foreign films afoot. The Tiger's Nest from Italy, shot in the mighty Himalayas has a young orphan boy Balmani rescue a tiger cub from ruthless poachers. They escape and set off on a long and perilous journey to a remote sanctuary where he believes they will be safe. Maika: The Girl from Another Galaxy is from Vietnam and is a fun science-fiction comedy focusing on 8 year old Hung who is having a rough time in life. That's until he meets an alien girl from the planet Maika when a meteor falls to Earth.

This is a fun-filled adventure that takes on the bad guys and helps Hung's newfound friend find her way home. Discover this and many other delightful films at CHIFF this year. Stay in touch via Facebook for updates.
