Gardens and parks all around Perth are green and growing with the coming of rain and cooler weather. It's the perfect season for establishing new plants, meaning that it's time again for the annual
Children's Forest Planting Day . On Sunday 8 June, children of all ages are welcome to participate in this free event at their own special part of Whiteman Park.
Environmental group
Men of the Trees began the
Children's Forest in 2001 to teach children about the beauty and value of nature. Since then, with a planting day each year, it's grown into a wonderland of winding paths, sculptures, activities and more.
This year sees the start of the fourteenth section of this unique community forest. Planting Day activities include a sausage sizzle and free entertainment as well as a chance for children to become a Friend of the Forest. For a $35 registration fee they receive a membership certificate and a personalised tile, which is mounted on artworks within the Forest. Why not start a family tradition and watch your children grow with the forest?
The Children's Forest is located just off the path that runs between the Village and Mussel Pool. Check the Whiteman Park
Facebook page for the latest news.
