Top 3 Children's Events

Brisbane has kids covered this winter with three different venues offering original performances, wonderful workshops, and amazing activities; including fun, free events. From weird and whimsical to exciting and entertaining, these top three events have something for everyone.

The Odditoreum
May 26 - Aug 26, 2012

The Odditoreum travelling exhibit, currently at the State Library of Queensland, is a collection of all sorts from deep within Sydney's Powerhouse Museum vault.

Children's author and illustrator Shaun Tan has created kooky and quirky narrative to accompany the artifacts in this weird and whimsical exhibition.

In addition to the free exhibit, families can also take part in some odd activities or watch an odd performance at Out of the Box Festival for Children.

For a detailed description of The Odditoreum, read Lucy Hordern's review.

Out of the Box Festival for Children
June 12 - June 17, 2012

Out of the Box Festival for Children celebrates it's twentieth anniversary in 2012, with more than fifty performances, workshops, and free events at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

The aim of the festival is to inspire, educate, and entertain children, from birth to eight years old. This year's festival will do exactly that.

Read Michelle MacFarlane's review for festival highlights.

June 26 - July 7, 2012

The Brisbane Powerhouse has packed a powerful punch with Powerkidz. This twelve day school holiday program will knock you out with adventurous, exciting, and entertaining events: theatre performances, wondrous workshops, free activities, and a film festival - made by kids for kids.

Not just for school kids, Powerkidz has something to suit all ages, even mums and dads. For more information, check out my review.
