While world peace may be unachievable, children and their carers can celebrate World Children's Day at a multicultural, family fun day - The Children's Day Festival .

This free festival is organised by the World Harmony Society and sponsored by the Brisbane City Council. Held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 10am until 6pm, the festival aims to promote international togetherness and awareness among children.

Kids will be entertained with free face painting, fun activities, amusement rides, and a fire engine display. Adults will enjoy browsing the multicultural market stalls and sampling delicious ethnic food. For the enjoyment of all, there will be multicultural performances including dancing, martial arts, and a traditional Chinese lion dance. Winners of the Multicultural Mask-Making Competition will also be announced. For more information on this competition for kids, click here .

[ADVERT]Children's Day Festival takes place at DM Henderson Park, on the corner of Granadilla and McCullough Streets in MacGregor. Free parking is available at Yimbun Park, opposite the Sunnybank Sports Club.

If we can teach our children tolerance and acceptance of other cultures, perhaps world peace is possible after all.
