We seem to spend a lot of Sundays at South Bank – and school holidays. Ask the kids where they want to go, they always choose South Bank. Why wouldn't they? Rain or shine, this entertainment precinct has plenty to offer.

South Bank Cinemas is a great escape on a wet winter day, or sizzling summer day. The least expensive cinema in Brisbane also boasts the biggest screen downtown. Catch the latest flick in the famous 'MAX' cinema featuring "maximum sound and maximum picture" on the twenty-five metre IMAX screen. This Cineplex also offers free parking underneath the cinema or cheap parking nearby, but you must get there early to secure one of these prime parking spots.

South Bank Parklands is the perfect place to beat the heat and humidity in the summertime. Cool down at Streets Beach and Aquativity or have a picnic at one of two playgrounds, including the new Picnic Island Playground .

A visit to the Cultural Centre during the school holidays is a must. Have fun with free activities at the following: The Queensland Museum , State Library of Queensland , and Gallery of Modern Art . The Lego Education Centre is another option with their inexpensive school holiday workshops, or Sunday Fundays all year round (except school holidays).

After a hard day at play, treat the kids with a visit to Grill'd for the best burgers, Max Brenner for a chocolate fix, or The Great Aussie Sweet Company for some old-fashioned lollies.
