Each year, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books to highlight the importance of reading. This year, Children's Book Week celebrations start from Saturday 16th August until 23rd August.

Spot the Dog will be visiting different Kingston libraries and will have special storytime sessions for the kids to enjoy.

We went to the Clarinda Library and got a chance to meet Spot, do a bit of singing and dancing and the kids even got a chance to take a photo with their favourite yellow pup. The event was well attended and there was sufficient space for kids and adults alike.

Once the storytime session is over, it is a great opportunity to browse all the different library books available for the kids and to give them a chance to borrow some books too. As Albert Einstein said, "If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales."

Spot is appearing at the following libraries during Book Week: Clarinda, Patterson Lakes, Cheltenham, Chelsea and Parkdale. Please click here for actual dates and times.

Enjoy Book Week and happy reading!
