Although the name doesn't scream 'relaxation' the Chic Skin and Laser Clinic has all the necessary facilities to leave you feeling pampered and refreshed - rather than just lasered and shaped.
For Christmas, my partner gave me a debit card specifically meant to be spent on a day spa for myself (apparently I'm too uptight). Not having been to a day spa before, I thought it may be a treat to invite a small group of my girlfriends along and make a day of it. And thus, the Girls Day-Spa Out was born.
All being local Penrith girls, we wanted to stay in our local area. Although there was only six of us, I was finding it hard to locate a company that could comfortably accommodate that many people at once. Then I came across Chic.
When I called to book they were very helpful and polite - and tolerated my one thousand questions well. In order to book for a group our size however, we did have to tell them exactly what each person was after (so make sure you've chosen before booking) and had to leave a small deposit (about $20 each). This deposit is not necessary if you are not booking for a group however.
Once we arrived, we were offered tea and coffee and led into the back room where the manicures/pedicures take place. Walking through the hall, you pass five or so massage rooms and it makes you realise how much bigger their shop really is compared to what it looks like from the outside.
Due to the size of our group, we were provided with complimentary juice, cheese, crackers and chocolates to help make the occasion that little bit more special and relaxing (their chocolate love hearts were delicious by the way).
The girls at Chic did their best to accommodate us as much as possible, including booking all the manicures/pedicures at once so we could socialise with each other while we were being pampered. The Chic girls themselves were very friendly and talkative and made for good conversation.
I was particularly impressed with the lady assigned to me, Victoria. She was responsible for my manicure, pedicure and neck, back and shoulder massage. Not only was Victoria very friendly and polite but also very considerate.
Being my first massage (first manicures/pedicures too really) I was a bit nervous and unsure of how things worked. Victoria was very kind to explain what to do and made the experience very pleasant (rather than the uncomfortable horror I had imagined it could turn into).
Our group was around for a good 2-3 hours, as each of us had booked 2 treatments, the whole time the Chic ladies were wonderfully polite and helpful. In once instance, a friend of mine who had chosen a manicure had clumsily knocked a few of her nails and ruined the polish. The girls at Chic however insisted that they help her fix it up before she left.
It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely do it again. If you're interested in organising your own Girls Day-Spa Out or you simply want to pamper yourself a bit, I recommend you give Chic a go.
