Look to the skies
Chew Vol. 4
Chew Vol. 4

The sudden appearance of fiery writing in the sky brings interesting times for Tony Chu. People all over the world wonder whether this is a message from aliens or a sign of the End Times. The government has been stripping funding from the FDA and giving it to NASA, which is good for Tony's sister, Toni, but exasperating for Tony and his partner, who still have murders to investigate. When a food fight at Tony's daughter's school turns into a bloodbath it looks like there may be a connection between a bullied schoolboy's deadly recipe and the demise of astronauts aboard a Russian space station. The two FDA agents find themselves dragged into a ASDA operation to stop a foreign general from releasing a bioweapon into the world. From there things just get weirder and more violent.

In this volume we learn of another food related superpower; FDA agent Daniel Migdalo is a Voresoph, a genius, but only while he is eating. There is also a revelation about there perhaps being other cibopaths (people who, like Tony, get psychic impressions from the foods they eat) out there. There is a plot full of interesting twists and turns, and the same odd sense of humour as ever.

Tony Chu will return in Chew Volume 5: Major League Chew.
