Have you ever heard of Strawbfest before? No? This is a pretty special day for Chevallum State School - every year on the first Friday of September they host their annual strawberry festival - and this year is the 30th Anniversary of Strawbfest!

Next to Chevallum State School is the Twist Brothers Strawberry Farm - the Twists grow the most delicious strawberries you have ever tasted and every year they open up their hearts and their farm and allow the children to pick truckloads of their delicious strawberries. The school then turn these strawberries into Strawberry and Marshmallow kebabs, Strawberry Dacquiri's, Strawberry-topped pavlovas, Strawberry milk shakes, chocolate-coated Strawberries, Strawberry syrup and Strawberry jam.

This is sure to be a day filled with fun for the whole family - loads of entertainment lined up - from juggling and comedians, to music, stalls, rides and fireworks.

Strawbfest is not just about strawberries though - they have heaps of other stalls too:

Side Show Alley - games and prizes to be won;
Novelty Stall - the Novelty stall is where you will find all the flashy, wavy things that make a festival fun - flashy swords and blinking tiaras;
Pre-Loved Stall - the best quality for the best price;
Plants Stall - parents and students work together to grow plants from seedlings and cuttings every year specifically for the annual Plant Stall. Local Nurseries also donate plants;
Flower Stall - Stunning flowers to take home and brighten up your home;
Strawberry Stall - Fresh strawberries picked and packed from the Twist Brothers' Farm;
Jam Stall - Decidedly delicious jam and strawberry syrup made by the parents and tuck shop staff
Bottle Stall - A jar packed with toys and treats (much like a show bag?)

Rides - Rides for big kids, little kids and all the kids in-between:-

Para Trooper - For those of us who are thrill seekers;
Super Slide - Eighty feet of fun in three separate lanes - this one has proven to be the most popular ride from children to grandparents;
Mega Swings - A thirty-seater swing ride for three year olds to adults;
Mad Hatters Cup and Saucer Ride - Six spinning cups enjoyed by toddlers to Mom and Dad;
Laser Tag - helps to burn up some of the kids' energy by running around with computerised phasers to track down their opponents;
Party Castle - bright, colourful and suitable for children age two to adults;
Disco Dance - Eighteen seater bench ride that spins anti-clockwise (not great for people like me with vertigo)

The fun doesn't stop here - two entertainment areas, the Main Stage and the Lounge:-

The Main Stage will have some great acts, namely, Escape Hatch featuring the musical talents of well-known Sunshine Coast identities, Steve Schultz and Brendan Hogan, who combine guitars, vocals, percussion and blues harps for a full-bodied acoustic sound - they are easily one of the best acoustic duos on the Sunshine Coast;
Karl Smith from The Lyrical - Karl has won several busking awards and has been number one on Triple J's unearthed competition five times.

Every year hay bales are supplied for everyone to sit on and watch the main stage, but unfortunately there are never enough, so please bring a blanket or chair and settle in to listen to some good music.

The Lounge is the place to listen to gentle music while you enjoy some Strawberry pavlova and a good cup of coffee.

On this fabulous night of strawbs and family fun, all food is paid for with food tickets (so remember to bring along some cash), which you can purchase on the night - these food tickets can also be used at the stalls - any tickets left over at the end of the night are not refundable, so perhaps some Strawberry Jam or a take home cake might be the way to go.

Judging by the menu on for the night, curry, pulled pork, nachos, strawberry salad, just to mention a few - you're all in for a real treat!

A Mega Raffle with $10,000 worth of prizes is also up for grabs!

This year is the Festival's 30th Year celebration and it's promising to be 'strawbfully' good!

Plenty of parking as neighbouring farms have kindly loaned their fields for carpark usage

Wow the P&C are doing great guns at that school. If I was in the area I would definitely go. Nice article.
