You know winter is on its way out when the smell of spring makes its way into the air and signs of new life are all around. What once were naked trees, will now be adorned with bright green leaves, some fortunate enough to have their own flowers.

The familiar aroma of flowering plants reminds us that cities and streets will once again be full of colour. It is during this time of year that the cherry blossom trees make their first appearance. The pretty in pink trees are a surefire way to impress even the fussiest out there and what better way to showcase them in all their beauty is at the Blossom Festival.



Entry to the festival is by ticket which can be purchased online. The festival is held on the grounds in Wandin East, only an hour each way from the city. Locals and day-trippers alike come together in celebration of these beautiful trees. While the trees steal the show, there is a heap of activities that will no doubt keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

There will be live music, craft stalls and ticketed workshops. The workshops include flower crown making, designing your own phone case using botanicals and busy bee workshops.

There will be plenty of food options. Leave all the chopping and cleaning behind, as this year the festival is offering ticket-goers the option to pre-order a sushi box or you can head over to one of the various food trucks.

For the romantic ones or those who just want to have fun, sit in a row of cherry blossom trees all to yourself with a preordered fully catered food and drink picnic package or go all out with a trip in a hot air balloon over the Yarra Valley laying sights on the trees from above.

The Blossom Festival runs from 18th September to 3rd October 2021, spanning three weekends. Ticket prices start at $7 for a child and $12.50 for an adult. Kids go free during the week.

The festival has taken special care to ensure the safety of its staff and patrons by implementing Covid Safe policies including restrictions on capacity. All details of this policy and the event are on the Cherry Blossom website.
