Scenic park with lakes, walks, playground and BBQs
If you didn't know it was there you would probably drive by, but this lovely Reserve is worth the stop!
Cherrybrook Lakes Conservation Reserve (The Lakes) is a tranquil park located in North West Sydney. It is a 'Wildlife Protection Area' due to the animals that reside within this small stretch of bushland and as it is home to one of the last remnants of the Blue Gum High Forest of the Sydney Basin.
In the Reserve you will find Blue Gums to 25m high and other semi-mature Gums including Smooth Bark Angophora and Blackbutt. You may also be lucky enough to spot some wildflowers.
Around The Lakes there are a couple of easy loop walks. The walks are pleasant to do and easy to transverse although not wheelchair or pram friendly - although our lot did manage to get their scooters around! A popular local walk, the Callicoma Walk, also begins at these tracks.
The lakes are also home to many waterbirds, including the Pied Cormorant, water hens and ducks. There are a couple of good viewing platforms extending onto the lake where you can do some bird spotting!
There are no toilets within the Reserve, however there is a Petrol Station across the road. Cherrybrook Shops is also just across the road (although you have to walk to the left for a while to access it). At Cherrybrook shops there are cafes, restaurants and supermarkets.
You can generally find parking directly out the front of the Reserve, on Shepherds Drive, Cherrybrook.
