As part of the continued expansion at Westfield Chermside, a new outdoor dining precinct has recently opened with 20 new restaurants. So if you are looking for a place to dine in the northern Suburbs, then Chermside's Westfield has a wide range of options. It becomes another reason to come to the great suburb of Chermside .

Westfield shopping centres around Australia are transforming. Their goal is to increase their food and dining areas so that they become more than just a place to shop, but are also a place to go out and dine. In Brisbane, this means outdoor restaurant areas that stay open late with bars, restaurants and fast food shops. Chermside is just the latest example of this expansion.

The new dining precinct can be accessed from the street level off Gympie Road. This is a new area that lies in the middle of the shopping centre and supplements the restaurants at the other two street level entrances at either end of the shopping centre. However, the easiest way to find it is to go into the shopping centre and head up the new upper floor that has been added.

Rather than just being a row of restaurants it is actually a lovely outdoor area with artworks, shade plants, fountains, seats and a kid's play area. If you are looking for a place to chill then it is worth visiting this spot. There is also parking right in front of this entrance, so it is a great place to park and enter the Westfield.

There are over 20 new restaurants in the new dining precinct. Now obviously I haven't eaten in all of them, however some to check out include The Bavarian, Zeus Street Greek, Betty's Burgers and Kamikaze Teppanyaki. With such a range of choices you really want to just go browse and choose on the night where you will eat. Currently shoppers are just beginning to discover this new area, so few of the restaurants are busy.

Expect Westfield to keep developing and to become more than just a collection shops. In fact, one of the plans coming up for Chermside Westfield is an indoor sky diving centre.

The downside is that really these are mostly, if not all, chain restaurants. If you prefer supporting locally run businesses then check out the many restaurants in Chermside outside of Westfield, including places like the Dawn Tearooms and O Cha Cha Vietnamese among many other options.
