There is one stallholder, a Greek lady, that is at the market every Sunday. As well as selling odds and ends, sewing supplies and clothing, she also sells fresh fruit and vegetables grown in her garden.
"I am 76yrs old, nearly 77yrs you know" She tells me. "I get up at 5am every Sunday to come to the market, but I won't be here next Sunday, it is Greek Easter!" I spent $10 on her stall on various fruit and veg produce, and I have to say, her fresh figs are amazing!
The lemongrass and myrtle is by far their best selling soap, I purchased one myself; so deliciously refreshing and invigorating.
Expect to find plenty of other stalls selling cheap plants for your yard, fresh flowers, bric-a-brac, pre-loved clothes and toys, plus there is another regular stallholder selling fresh free range chicken eggs ($2.50 half dozen, $5 a dozen).
New stallholders are welcome, $15 per stall, bookings are essential, contact details found here.
Cheltenham Rotary Market runs every Sunday, 8am - 1pm. It may be on the smaller side compared other Trash and Treasure markets found in Melbourne, but at least you'll know you don't have to rely on the weather for the market to run.
