These days there are festivals dedicated to some pretty weird things, but a festival for cheese? That's not weird at all. Cheese is one of those foods that makes some people go weak at the knees. We love it so much we'll even eat it when it's mouldy. Cheesefest is Australia's premier cheese festival, and it has no better home than Adelaide.

The 2012 festival will be held at Rymill Park on the weekend of the 27th and 28th of October.

We have some great cheese producers in Adelaide including B.-d. Farm Paris Creek , Udder Delights , Woodside Cheese Wrights , Alexandrina Cheese Company , and the Barossa Valley Cheese Company to name a few. The event of course includes cheese tastings, but you'll also get to taste some of the other fine things in life that go so well with cheese.

Local wineries and breweries will be setting up at Cheesefest, and you'll be able to discover which drop goes best with which cheddar, and if there's a brew that works with blue. If you're interested in more than just cheese for lunch, there will also be a selection of local restaurants with stalls, who will be more than happy to feed you throughout the day.

Don't worry if you're stuck with the kids on the weekend, and haven't quite trained them up to be cheese connoisseurs yet. There will be family friendly entertainment available, which includes things like rides, jumping castles, and face painting. Even if you can't get them to enjoy the cheese, there's no doubt that they'll have a fun time.

There's entertainment for the adults as well. Grab a spot on the grass to enjoy some cheese, and listen to the live music wafting over Rymill park. Then there are the cooking demonstrations, you'll be able to learn more about cheese and other local ingredients.

Cheesefest runs over the whole weekend, pick a day to come, or buy the weekend pass for just $25. Tickets are available online . Cheesefest is on 11am-5pm on both the Saturday and Sunday. Be prepared to buy a bit of cheese, because once you start tasting you'll want to take it all home with you.
