This Is Not A Dream
Picture this: warm air, fresh breeze, soft sounds of the waves on a beach, people walking and shopping well into the night. This is not a dream but my reality when sitting in the open air frontage of Cheeseburger in Paradise on Waikiki Beach Oahu. Sound good?

Experience the mouth watering taste of cheeseburgers of many varieties and fries, sitting at a table overlooking the beach, sipping a long cool drink and watching the travellers go by and locals work hard into the night.

A visit to Cheeseburgers in Paradise will put you in Paradise, in more ways than one! The burgers are huge and the service is excellent. Staff members old and young, male and female, and dressed in grass skirts, efficiently running between tables taking orders for drinks and meals but taking time to chat and introduce you to the many wonders of Oahu. I now have a long list of suggestions about places to see and visit.

No doubt tips are earned hard as there is much competition among the many eateries along Waikiki Beach. The friendly nature is common to all who serve in Hawaii but particularly so in this wonderfully decorated eatery which gives the traveller every hint of the way you would expect Hawaiian décor used to be: grass hut ceilings, bamboo, colourful hibiscus, carved heads, views of the beach, retro posters of Hawaiian life and the smell of frangipani.

As I sit, sipping from a plastic pineapple, the purchase of which allows you a free refill whenever you bring your pineapple back in (yes, even everyday if you wish), I know I could stay here for the longest time. I loved it so much so that I came back a year later and did it all over again, introducing my daughters to the wonders of this tropical paradise. I can still smell the tropical suntan lotion!
