Okay, so officially there is no "cheese trail" through the Clare Valley - but to satisfy the cheese chasers out there, here is a handy list of wineries and venues scattered through the Clare Valley that offer those dairy delights we love!
Clare Valley is located approximately 1.5 hours drive north of Adelaide, beginning officially in the township of Auburn as the gateway to the valley. Starting there, let's follow the trail of these hotspots from Auburn to Clare:
Cheese With That, Auburn
Gourmet hampers of artisan cheeses, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, smoked meats & condiments, at selected cellar doors and pop-up locations in the main street - look for the blue flag. 0418 353 005 | firstname.lastname@example.org
Bungaree Station Store, Bungaree (12km north of Clare)
Historic store stocking many local products for visitors to build their own platter of cheeses, smallgoods, olives etc.

The most direct route from Adelaide to Clare Valley is to follow Port Wakefield Road or the Northern Connector onto the Northern Expressway, and then turn left onto Horrocks Highway (Main North Road) just after the bypass to Gawler. There are numerous ways to see the valley: self-drive, bicycle or walk along the Riesling Trail, or organise a guided tour/bus with a local tour operator.
Visit the Clare Valley Tourism website for links to all of these locations, or look them up online for the latest information and full menus at some locations.
