Fancy getting a buttery Brie, peppery Cheddar or pungent Roquefort on your fork? Debuting at the
Teneriffe Festival this year is the
Brisbane Cheese Market , offering tastes from a range of artisanal cheesemakers such as Witches Chase Cheese Company, Heidi Farm, Kingaroy Cheese and Meredith Dairy.
Halloumi and Raclette style of cheeses will also feature with ample demonstrations and tastings - think deep-fried camembert, three-cheese toasties, hand-crumbed and fried feta-stuffed olives, just to name a few. Want to take these goodies home? There will be cheese boxes, condiments, olives and more for sale.
If your tummy is really rumbling at the
Brisbane Cheese Market , you'll also have the chance to enjoy paella by Javier Codina of Moda - straight from the pan. Freshly shucked oysters, hand-peeled prawns, deep-fried oysters and miso scallops are other delicacies on offer.
There's even a cheese masterclass by Queensland expert Peter Gross from 10.15am to 11.00am, covering topics such as how cheese is made, the difference between varieties such as Brie and Camembert, how blue cheese gets its colour and what you should never put on a cheese board.
The
Brisbane Cheese Market forms a new element within the
Teneriffe Festival , now in its sixth year. The festival celebrates the suburb's history, energy, cultural diversity, commerce and beauty. The one-day festival also incorporates street markets, family-oriented activities, live music, dining and historical displays. Several of Teneriffe's main streets will close to allow visitors to discover the best that the suburb has to offer.
