Learn how to make all different types of cheese and impress
Have you ever wanted to make your own cheese? I love cheese of all types and have made my own ricotta, however, that is as far as it goes! Now you can learn to make all different types of cheeses from experts.
Based in the Swan Valley, The Cheese Maker runs a range of cheese making courses so you can learn everything you need to know to make your favourites from home. In each of these courses, you'll watch, learn, and get hands-on experience. This, in turn, will make sure you will be able to create these recipes again at home.
You do not need any experience to join these classes and you can do as many as you want. You can also buy gift vouchers and these are valid for a year from the date of purchase.
1. Classic Delights Cheese Making Course This one will be held on Sunday 10th June, 2018 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. It will be held at Swan Valley Central, 660 Great Northern Highway, Herne Hill. If you have ever wanted to make ricotta, feta, yoghurt or sour cream, then this is the place to learn.
You will produce great food at home, whilst knowing exactly what's inside the cheeses you create, having avoided the sugars, the additives, and the preservatives. Of course, you will also avoid the huge costs by creating them at home.
You will learn the science behind turning milk into cheese. This will start with milk and go through to cultures, and teach you how to prevent common mistakes in home cheese making.
There will be heaps of creative recipes and ideas to keep you busy and feed cheese to your visitors. Here you will also get to taste cheeses during the day, and take home your own block of feta. You will also get to take home The Cheese Maker's 'Classic Delights Home Cheese Making Guide', as well as an apron.
You will also get morning and afternoon tea, as well as lunch and a glass of chilled wine The cheese making cultures and equipment will be available for purchase on the day.

2. Introduction to Home Cheese Making This course will be held on Saturday 16th June, 2018, and it will be a 2 hour class. It will start at 10.00 am and go to 12 noon.
Tanya Barretto from The Cheese Maker will demonstrate how to make your own ricotta and yoghurt quickly and easily from home. You will be amazed at how easy and cheap this is to make at home.
You'll also find out about the advantages that homemade ricotta and yoghurt have for your sweet and savoury creations. You will get to taste various variations including fresh ricotta right through until pot set and Greek-style yoghurts.
3. Farmhouse Cheese Making Course
This course will be on 17th June from 9.30 am and will go for 5 hours. This course is easy enough for the beginner and will also be fun with a room full of people laughing around a table! All you need is a dedication and a love of cheese.
You will begin with the basics of cheese making and create your own version, however you like it. The flavours and combinations for this are endless.

4. Gourmet Delights Cheese Making Class
This will be on Saturday 30th June, from 10.00 am and will be a six-hour class. At this course, you will learn how to make five different soft cheeses including Camembert. You will turn fresh cow's milk into a soft rind cheese wheel or creamy Camembert goodness.
If you like a blue Camembert or blue cheese, you will learn how to make that also! Whether it be mild and refined, or strongly veined, you can make the choice.
