Cheers Cut at Rundle Mall Plaza has moved to Mawson Lakes, probably due to the extensive renovations happening at Rundle Mall Plaza. To our relief, the quality of their crispy giant squid and fried chicken has not suffered from the relocation.

The Giant Squid was just as good as the one from their Rundle Mall branch, with it not being too chewy and set off nicely by the crisp coating. We chose a Szechuan sauce for our dipping sauce, which had the right amount of spice to liven up the taste of the squid. The squid was cut up to make eating it an easy and enjoyable experience.

Great as a meal for one, their Bento Boxes consists of your choice of Chicken Nuggets, Fried Chicken, Fried Pork, Stewed Squid or Fried Squid accompanied with a hard-boiled egg, green beans, pickles and plain rice. Both the Fried Chicken and Fried Pork had lovely crisp coatings. The Fried Chicken had tender flesh and the Fried Pork had a slightly sweet flavour to it.

While we liked the sweet-savoury flavour of the sauce used in the Stewed Squid, we thought it was a bit chewy for our tastes. The green beans in their Bento Boxes were tasty and the rice had a sprinkling of seaweed seasoning to give it extra flavour.

The place is primarily catered for their dishes to be ordered for takeaway but it still has a cosy ambience should you decide to eat there. Parking is of little issue with plenty of parking space in the car park in front of the restaurant. It is also within walking distance for students studying at the Mawson Lakes campus of University of South Australia.
