Food relief is an issue that affects Australians across various demographics. Thanks to these cut-price grocers, you can be broke and still eat well.


A 2019 comparison survey by Choice found that Aldi provided the cheapest groceries of all the supermarkets in Australia. If you're unable to make any of the locations on this list, Aldi is the easiest option.

Costco offers a direct-to-the-public wholesale experience for the cost of a monthly membership ($60 per year for individuals and $55 per year for businesses). The range at Costco is all-encompassing - as well as bulk food, you will find clothing, toys, furniture and more.

In Brisbane, Costco is located at North Lakes (17-39 Cook Court).

Golden Circle Factory Outlet

The Golden Circle Factory Outlet has been serving up bargains for more than a decade thanks to their contracts with Golden Circle and Heinz Australia. You might also find brands like Cadbury, Arnotts and Kellogs.

On the northside, Golden Circle Factory Outlet is located at Shop 3-343 Morayfield Road, Morayfield.

Northside Discount Fruit Barn

For cut-price fruit and veg, you can't go past this greengrocer in Deception Bay. Open until 8pm seven days a week, Northside Discount Fruit Barn allows shoppers to purchase fresh produce with the coins in their car ashtray. They also offer a limited range of other grocery items - at the time of printing, deals included chocolate bars, bags of chips, and boxes of tea.
