quaint pub and bistro frequented by tradies, office workers, casino-goers and residents in the know. It celebrated its 142nd Birthday on 15 September 2012 with heaps of live music, food and fun. The Pyrmont Bridge Hotel (PHB) is a favourite watering and feeding hole with a heritage European decor that is reminiscent of the Cricketer's Bar at Hotel Windsor in Melbourne minus the cricket memorabilia.
And why shouldn't it be? You can cheer sporting events with friends, tuck into well cooked pub grub, enjoy views of Darling Harbour or catch glimpses of a rainbow over a beer on the second level balconies.
Every Thursday between 6pm to 9pm, PHB goes "Man versus Food" with its 1 kilogram steak challenge at $20. The Man or Mouse challenge requires you to individually consume the large prime grain fed rump steak with chips and salad to the satisfaction of an authorised team member. The winner get a free meal. However this is not the cheapest steak deal.
Arrive before 5pm and your happiness index will soar with $8 steaks with every drink purchased. Available daily, PBH makes good on its steak offer. Each portion is 280 grams of beefy goodness on mash and red wine sauce. You ask for extra complimentary dipping sauces like mushroom and mayo. Although prices have gradually increased from $6 to $7 and now $8, where else can you find such sizable feed at that price in Sydney except Fisherman's Wharf Tavern on the Gold Coast. Happy Days.
