Cheap jazz, fashion, films, circus and music this April
The Cheap List: April Entertainment for under $40
When it comes to entertainment or a night out on the town, it's getting harder to find affordable options that won't break your budget. Well, Weekend Notes has come to the rescue with a list of five entertainment options this April, all under $40. It's a diverse list too, with jazz, circus, fashion, films and musical performance in the mix.
If you can't find anything that appeals to you amongst the following events you can also find some cheap cinematic entertainment in my article Five Film Festivals in April.
Jazz and Shiraz
Logan's very popular Jazz and Shiraz is the chill out, autumn, outdoor jewel in Logan's entertainment crown. Held annually in the beautiful surrounds of the historic Kingston Butter Factory it showcases great Australian jazz talent, Brisbane wines and food from local restaurants. It's strictly NO BYO but bring your friends, picnic basket and rug along for this year's expanded line-up, which includes the legendary Grace Knight, Scat, David de Vito and the Lauren Lucille Quartet. Because tickets are only $20 you can still buy a couple of drinks and stay within the $40 budget.
Here's one for the girls. We all know that Limes Hotel is famous for it's stylish rooftop bar and the inaugural Wicked Winter Rooftop Styling combines that ambience with the fashionista factor. The night includes cocktails on arrival, canapes and a fashion parade, with prizes, discounts and a goodie bag thrown in for good measure. Get the girls together for night out and you'll still have money left over from your $40 budget.
When: Thursday 11 April at 6.30pm. Where: Limes Hotel rooftop Bar, 142 Constance Street, Fortitude Valley Tickets: $20 if pre-booked or $25 at the door. Available online here. More Information: See the website here.
Identité by Flipside Circus
Fresh from Darling Harbour's Hoopla Festival, Flipside return to Brisbane for more performances of their versatile and energetic show, Identité. See performers aged between 9 and 18 in tris contemporary performance as they explore the concept of identity through acrobatics and aerial work. Flipside is definitelynot your average circus.
