Entertaining the kids on a budget is a lot easier if you know where to go. There are a number of children's activities throughout the Sunshine Coast that are both affordable and enjoyable for the whole family. After all, why should kids have all the fun?
Kidzown
Kidzown is an indoor play centre and café located in Kawana. It has everything you'd expect to find at an indoor play centre including several kids'
party options , a mountain of games and activities to keep the kids entertained for hours plus all the modern facilities you need (
click here to view a list of what the centre has to offer ).
Parents can chill and chat at the café whilst your kids play on the giant slide, ball pit, ride on toys or one of the other many interactive games available. Entry prices are only $8.80 for children one to four and $11 for children aged five to twelve (babies under one year old are free). Parents are free when they accompany a child. Further discounts apply if you buy a prepaid visit card. Open seven days per week and located at Unit 6-7, 10 Capital Place, Lake Kawana. Visit the
website or telephone (07) 5493 4690 for more information.
Miniature Steam Train Rides
For only $3 a ticket or four for $10 the whole family can ride the Mini Steam Train at the Model Railway Park, 1 Florence Street,
Nambour. Train rides are held on the fourth Sunday of every month from 10am to 3pm and it's open to all ages, not just children.
The best part about this activity is the location. Set on parklands with sheltered areas and plenty of room you can pack a family picnic and make a day of it. Additionally, it's a great location for a kid's birthday party. It won't cost you a fortune and you can hold it on the same day as the train ride operates which will definitely prove to be a hit with the kids. For more information visit the website or telephone (07) 5450 8340.
Swim Fit Aquatic Centres

• Toddler pools and fountains/play area
• Learn to Swim program (all ages and special needs)
• Aqua Aerobics
• Parent and Baby Program
• Poolside Cafe

• Pool Party Packages
• BBQ Facility (on request)
• Disabled facilities
(Each centre has different facilities so make sure you
check the website for individual centre facilities before you go.)
Entry prices are so cheap kids can use their pocket money. Special discounts apply when you purchase a 10 visit, monthly, 3 monthly and 6 monthly pass and if you're a swim fanatic, a yearly membership pass.
The Ginger Factory
You'll save dollars by visiting The Ginger Factory which offers free admission 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm.
