Home decorating is fun. It is like we are letting the interior decorator within out. The leash has been taken off. It is always fun to plan, and then buy those much needed home wares in decorating your domain, as well as adding that something a little extra to your living space. The great news is that home wares have become ever so affordable in Sydney without compromising on quality one iota.
In responding to this question, the area of Rhodes seems to be a home decorators haven. Why? First off IKEA, based inside the Rhodes Shopping Centre. As you know with IKEA, it is advisable to get there rather early to avoid the crowds, especially with an abundance of families furniture shopping on weekends. IKEA is either a place you like to despise, however many of their home ware items are of great quality, including their candles, tea lights, shower curtains and other accessories for the home. The rationale behind IKEA is contemporary designs at low prices. Agree. There is so much to explore, and the beauty of IKEA is you can browse the catalogue before stepping foot inside the store. Just have that coffee beforehand. Also, the great thing about IKEA at Rhodes is that there is no need to circle around the furniture and kitchen section before you can make it to the home wares. All you need to do is simply cut through the restaurant and cafe area to head downstairs to the home wares. Quality scents from $2.50 a pop, that is incredibly insane.
Bed, Bath and Table at Rhodes (right near IKEA) is a great place to buy one of those canvas artworks. Bought one recently, the price said $30, yet when it came time to pay, the item was reduced down to $10, and this was even two weeks ago. Sydney on sale again.
Otherwise, if you like Freedom furniture more than you do IKEA, the Big Brand Outlet at Manly Wharf is also home to some quality, cheap furniture items and home wares with a warehouse meets expensive retail feel. A diverse variety of antique and contemporary like goods can be found here.
Papaya Homeware - makers of simply beautiful homeware products have a clearance outlet tucked away on Flood St in Leichhardt. Open 7 days from 10am to 4pm they promise a minimum of 30% off recommended retail prices and they have everything from super stylish glassware, linen, candles, home fragrances, cushions, decorator items and even furniture. All this PLUS it doesn't even feel like a clearance outlet, totally beautiful shop with warm, friendly, local service. My fave!
