Treat your family to these
Cost of Living Busters. These Sydney eateries give you value for money and there will be no complaints about the food.
The cost-of-living crisis has eaten into budgets, and it is harder to find the money to eat out. As a family of four, we like to eat out occasionally but don't enjoy paying too much. We treat ourselves to cheap eats and enjoy a night out close to home.
Here are some of our favourite cheap eats restaurants in the Inner West -
VN STREET FOODS

This restaurant is known for its meal boxes and the choice of traditional fresh Vietnamese food is delectable. Rice paper rolls are a favourite of mine but dishes like Ban Oc, Pho and Mi xào giòn along with the rice and vermicelli dishes are fresh and flavourful too. Enjoy the meat dishes, pickled vegetables and the aromatic herbs.
Many Vietnamese dishes use fresh herbs like cilantro, mint, Thai basil, perilla leaves, and vegetables like bean sprouts, cucumbers, and leafy greens. Much of the food needs minimal cooking keeping the flavours crisp and fresh. VN Street Foods has many crisp, flavoursome dishes to choose from. Treat yourself to lunch or dinner here soon.
You can order online and have food delivered but a night out is always better, no cleaning up. Check out the extensive menu at VN Street Foods'
website.

African food can explode in your mouth with a myriad of flavours. This Nigerian restaurant uses authentic spices like locust beans, a fermented condiment, scent leaves and ground dried crayfish, all used in soups and stews giving them amazing flavour. Stews contain goat, chicken or beef, habanero chillies, capsicum and tomato.
Our friends told us about this restaurant and we have been with them a few times. You will not go hungry from here. You can dine in or take away.

website shows some of the amazing dishes they serve. Check it out and make a booking soon.

This is one of the best places to buy fresh and tasty dumplings. They are made at the front of the shop where you can watch as these morsels of Asian yumminess are expertly crafted.
Open for lunch and dinner, New Shanghai also has lunch specials on weekdays. With recipes handed down over generations and using local produce, you are assured of a great meal. This is one of our favourites, a perfect Sunday night treat.
New Shanghai has other locations including Ashfield. Find these on their
website .
EL JANNAH
Address:
Various addresses.
Hours:
Check your local El Jannah for opening hours.

The closest El Jannah to us is in Burwood and we enjoy their charcoal chicken, it is smoky and charred to perfection. This Lebanese institution has been around for 25 years with stores throughout Sydney, the rest of NSW and other states. Check their website to find your closest one.
Lebanese cuisine is full of flavour yet the food is simple with a good range of protein, vegetables and salads. And let's not forget Lebanese bread, a staple of all Lebanese meals.
El Jannah also provides catering, find out more on the
website . I have used the catering services for parties with great results. There is always plenty of food to go around.
SKINNY TONY'S REALLY ITALIAN
Address:
20B Barnstaple Rd, Five Dock NSW 2046
Hours:
Dinner - Wed-Sun: 5.30 pm to close
Lunch - Sun: 12.00 pm to 2.30 pm

This restaurant is large enough for parties and events. We have dined here with friends and find the wood-fired pizzas exceptional. The menu is extensive with many dishes to choose from like pastas, meats, chicken and seafood choices, but I enjoy the pizzas, which are also available by the metre.

There is parking out the front, and because this was originally a bowling club, the bowling greens are still there. They have been upgraded along with the rest of the venue. The name of the whole venue is
The Home Grounds.
Find out more about Skinny Tony's and The Home Grounds at the
website .
