Eating out doesn't have to break the bank
On a recent trip to Sydney, I was keen to see if I could try and find some cheap eats in the city. My friends had been talking about how expensive it was to eat out, and I wanted to see what I could get for under $15 in Sydney.

Soda Factory

Soda Factory Burger

The Soda Factory in Surry Hills is an American-style diner and bar serving American favourites and retro cocktails, with booth seats, live music and DJs! It also has a number of items on its menu under $15 including hotdogs, mexi-salad, and burrito bowls.

16 Wentworth Ave, Surry Hills | Mon - Thurs: 5pm - late, Fri: 5pm - 3:30am, Sat: 6pm - 3:30am | From $13

Bau Truong

Bahn Trang Gion

Walking through Darling Square, I stumbled upon Bau Truong, this little place serving up modern fusion Vietnamese food for a steal. The menu is small with only seven items on the list but they sounded amazing! In the end, I decided to try the Banh Trang Gion (a light Vietnamese Taco) which was selling at the grand price of two for $10!

Shop 4/1 Little Pier Street, Haymarket | Mon to Sat 11:30am to 10pm and Sun 11:30am to 9:00pm | From $10

Ramen Zundo

Japanese Rice Curry

Ramen Zundo is a Japanese Ramen noodle Restaurant in World Square. However, this place doesn't just specialise in ramen they also make delicious Japanese curry with Chicken Katsu and Donburi. Even better is that can get a bowl of steaming hot Japanese Curry or Chicken Katsu Don from under $15.

Shop 10.30 World Square | 11:30am to 9:00pm daily | From $14

Fujimi Dorayaki

Fujimi Dorayaki is serving up one of the most iconic Japanese sweets - Dorayaki. This sweet is made up of two hot pancakes sandwiched together with a filling. Typically the filling is red bean and the outside is a castella cake batter, but you can get it in many different flavours including my favourite Cream cheese oreo!

Regent Place, Level 9/501 George St | 11am to 9:30pm Sun - Wed 11am to 10pm Thu - Sat | From $3.50

Mappen Noodle Restaurant

Tucked away from George Street is Mappen Noodle Restaurant, a small shop specialising in cheap and delicious noodles including ramen. There is a good range of soup bases here and you can have the noodles either hot or cold. Personally I loved the Tonkatsu based soup from $8.90.

Shop 11/537-551 George St | 11:30am to 9:30pm everyday | From $8.90
