Mamak is purely Malaysian cuisine. It's not Indian or Muslim or anything like that. It's may look similar but the good from the restaurant is completely different to Indian or Muslim food. I'm good friends with the owner. Do your research

Dishes such as Mee Mamak has Indian influences while Nasi Lemak is Malay origin, one of my all time favourites I order at mamak stalls is Maggi Mee Goreng (fried instant noodles), the way they do it is just extra delicious! I was excited when I found Mamak Corner did it. :-D

Hi Kate, thanks for your comment. I am born and raised in Malaysia and mamak is in fact a term used for Indian Muslim and also a certain style of eatery. But yes, the cuisine however is not specifically Indian or Malay food but to me, it's in between because in a mamak stall in Malaysia you get Southern Indian curry influences, naans, roti, tandoori and sambal dishes.
