A luxurious way to enjoy Rottnest Island
Summer is here and what better way to spend a sunny day in Perth than to visit Rottnest Island aboard a luxurious catamaran. Charter 1 runs full day sailing voyages throughout the summer, to Rottnest Island aboard their 12.5m Catamaran "Cappella". The trip to Rottnest takes about 1.5 hrs, depending on the conditions and being a multi hull vessel it is quite a smooth ride.

Capella is well appointed with plenty of comfortable seating inside and out, and a fantastic cargo net to ride in as the catamaran rips through the water on the journey or lounge in while moored in one of the spectacular coves off Rottnest Island.

The full day trip includes a couple of stops at Rottnest, which allows plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of the pristine water and stunning beaches. Snorkeling equipment is provided to explore the reefs and admire the stunning coral and array of colourful and diverse fish. We were lucky enough to moor in a bay that is home to a colony of Australian sea lions, which added to the varied marine wildlife we saw through the day.

There is plenty of time to wander along the exquisite white sand beaches of the island and soak up the tranquility of the sheltered bays. Or if you prefer to indulge in a little activity during the day kayaks and a stand-up paddleboard are available.

The crew were a delight to sail with. Their knowledge of the region and the many bays and coves at Rottnest enables them to find the most protected locations for any wind direction. A delicious ploughman's lunch is supplied as well as morning and afternoon tea. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase.

There is ample car parking available or it is a 10 minute walk from the Fremantle train station.

Charter 1 also runs twilight cruises aboard the Capella and Swan River cruises and charter voyages aboard their 14.5 m power vessel "Concorde", which is perfect for parties and dinner cruises.

Sounds like a really great day out. But at $229 per adult, we will need to wait until after we win lotto. Are they serious?
