This is not Playtime, this is Timezone
Charlestown Square's all new – Timezone. Situated on the middle floor of the mall, just underneath Reading cinemas and next to the Cold Rock Ice Creamery.
Did you enjoy playing air hockey as a child? Or maybe you were more a fan of whack-a-moles? Or perhaps you enjoyed shooting some miniature basketball hoops?
Regardless of what your favourite activity may have been, you can relive all of these still fantastically fun machines and more all over again.
The all new Timezone exhibits the perfect blend of 'old school fun' for the entire family. The classic machines make a fine nostalgic return to form for all ages.
The arcade provides the perfect environment, to spend an easy $30 for hours upon end of entertainment. And after you've run out of credits, you'll just want to revisit the counter and purchase even more.
However, the experience wouldn't be complete without the token exchange of tickets for prizes. The rules are simple; you play amusements, win tickets and exchange them for large or smaller prizes.
And let me tell you, claiming a massive 10,000-ticket prize, still has not lost its allure of satisfying triumph and victory.
Despite this some veterans to the original Timezone arcades, may be disappointed by the lack of physical tickets. The arcade now has adjusted to a more modern system of electronic tickets collection. However this should not worry old-timers, as the system is now even more fluid and exceptionally easy to adjust to.
Timezone is easily one of Newcastle's most amusing and inexpensive places to spend a few hours of your day. That will see you returning often, as there are no entertaining places quite like this elsewhere in the city.
It's just too much fun. For old and young.
