There is excitement in the air in Sydney's inner west as Innerwest Plantaholics gear up for their end of year Charity Plant Sale on Saturday 27th November 2021. So long have they waited in lockdown that the rush to make this event one the of best ever held is quickly coming together. Proceeds from the day are going to the much-deserved charity - WIRES Wildlife Rescue Service, Inner West Branch .

WIRES is the largest wildlife rescue and rehabilitation charity in Australia. It all started out as small group of private people who wanted to take responsibility and meet the needs of Australian wildlife. Growing in size quite quickly, the group was incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation in 1987. As all animal rescuers and carers are volunteers, the organisation relies on funding from public donations and events such as the Charity Plant Sale to keep funds available to provide valuable care for Australia's wildlife.

The plant sale is a community event and there will be a COVID safe plan in place, which will comply with the public health order.

What to do if donating plants?

  • Make a list of your donated items with names, photographs and information.
  • Please write the name of the plants on the pots, so each can be easily identified.
  • Send this list through to Man Yin or Julie Parker through the Facebook Event Page .
  • Plants can be dropped off between 13 to 25 November (an address will be provided once a list is sent through) or you can drop off on the event day between 9.00am and 10.00am.
  • If you do not have transport and cannot drop the plants off, please liaise with the administrators and something will be worked out.
  • If any of your plants are not sold and you would like them returned, please sign your name on the bottom of each pot. You will need to come back to the event at 1.10pm to collect them. Any plants not sold and not collected will be given to plant libraries or sold online for charity purposes.
  • Plants donated must be in pots and bug-free; for this event, we cannot accept cuttings as we do not have the resources available on the day.

  • The Charity Plant Sales officially commences at 10.00am with plenty of bargains on indoor, outdoor and edible plants, worm juice, pots and hangers - all great ideas for Christmas presents. Plant price ranges are $2.00 $5.00, $10.00 or $15.00 ,depending on your choice. You can either pay by cash or Paypal or Credit Card through the GoFundMe account at https://gofund.me/c9932876

There will also be face painting for the children and WIRES will have a stand at the event for any questions you wish to have answered. The event concludes at 1.00pm, when a raffle will be drawn. Food and drinks are available for purchase from the Tennis Club. Marrickville District Harcourts Tennis Club is located at 33 Centennial Street Marrickville , which is right to Henson Park. Do not forget to bring boxes or bags to take your purchases home.

Plant sitters and volunteers are most welcome to help on the day.
