Mark your calendars for the 13th of September 2015, the date of the next Buddy Walk. This is a charity walk for people with and without dogs, in support of the Buddy Foundation.

The Buddy Foundation is a non-profit shelter for homeless animals located at 65 W. Seegers Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60005. It is supported by volunteers, donations and fund-raising events like this walk.

To take part in the walk you should register in advance and make a $30 donation per person (by September 1st, $35 after September 1st).

The walk starts at 9am at Melas Park in Mount Prospect. Melas Park is home to sports fields, picnic spots, a childrens' playground, and a dog park called the "Canine Commons" (but you need to buy an annual membership to use it).

My own two dogs came from a dog pound and a rescue organization. They have brought a lot of fun and companionship into my life so I am always happy to support shelters and rescues that give animals new homes and families. I hope to see you there!
