On Saturday 18th of July, 2015, Care for Africa is hosting their annual 'Charity Cocktail Ball' event at The Apartment on Little Bourke St, Melbourne.
This special event helps raise much needed funds which go towards installing water wells in target communities in Tarime, Tanzania.
Everyday the women and children in this district must walk as far as 16 kilometres with 20 litre cans to access water.
These water sources are often shared with animals and contain high levels of e-coli, typhoid and cholera, increasing morbidity and mortality rates in the community and especially in infants.
Care for Africa aims to change this dire situation by installing water wells around Tarime.
By doing this, the women and children of Tarime will be able to easily access clean drinking water without having to walk for kilometres. Often the time spent walking everyday prevents women and children from attending school, work and taking care of their families. With the installation of these water wells, not only will deadly diseases be prevented, the lives of all in the local community will be greatly improved.
To help Care for Africa achieve their mission, get a group of friends together and come along to the Care for Africa Cocktail Ball on Saturday 18th of July, 2015.
From 8pm, guests will enjoy 3 hours of unlimited drinks (including spirits), delicious canapés, a live jazz band, a DJ spinning great tunes all night, a photo booth, door prizes, an auction and more. Prizes up for grabs include 3 nights accommodation for 2 people at beautiful Freycinet Sanctuary, Tasmania; $200 food and beverage voucher for The Apartment Lounge/Bar; and a $100 voucher for Movida restaurant in Melbourne!
